Our Iceberg is Melting...

Another great book for your consideration.
The author, John Kotter, was responsible for by now everyone's favorite..."Who Moved my Cheese." This new parady once again takes on the subject of change.  This time using a colony of Penguins to make clear how difficult it is for people to change.  One of the Penguins discovers a lake which has formed under the iceberg during the summer months.  If his hypothesis is correct and ice is more dense than water then when it freezes the iceberg could be split apart and the colony would be cast in many directions leaving the colony forever lost.  This hearty penguin then must go back to the colony and it's governeours to explain the dangers and convince everyone that the best solution would be to become nomadic and move yearly.  He meets every personality known and ultimately reaches consenses by leading change carefully with great insight.

Reading this book gives you a clear understanding about how difficult it is to manage change and the different agendas.  A must read for any organization or business that is managing change and right now, that is all of us!  Absolutely everyone will either manage change and thrive or disolve under the pressure to change.  "Our Iceberg Is Melting" is a powerful message.  It covers all of the steps to success in a changing world, from finding the substantial issues, aligning with a potent champion, charting the course, getting buy-in, and dealing with those who want no change.  It is a simple story dealing with Leading Change.  If you know someone in Politics...this would be a nice Christmas gift for them.   I found myself thinking about the past on one page and then the future on the next.
Happy Friday,
Cindy
